Growing up in Michigan, Jeanne Stadel's childhood winters included building snow forts, sledding and making snow angels. While she recalls those activities with fondness, after teaching in Maryland for many years before finally moving south to divide her time between Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, she is grateful for the ease of living in a warmer climate.

Jeanne has always had a strong interest in writing for children, especially at the middle grade level. In her view, it is the time of life when the world, for each of us, begins to truly reveal itself, making it endlessly fascinating!
